- 1). Find a level, smooth area for your round pen. Measure a 60-foot line for the diameter of the round pen, and mark both ends with flags. Note where you plan to install the gate.
- 2). Prepare the footing. Spread a 3-inch layer of sand over the area and work it into the soil to soften the ground and provide drainage. Remove any rocks or debris.
- 3). Lay out the panels along the perimeter of the area. Place the first panel upright. Have someone hold it for you. Place the next panel upright and install the connectors between the panels, following the manufacturer's directions. Continue in this manner until all panels are upright and securely fastened, using the diameter markers as a guide.
- 4). Install the gate, connecting it to the panel on each side. Check that the gate opens, closes and swings freely without catching on the ground.
