It is indeed hard put to enumerate the top breeds.
As of October 2007, the survey results of more than 5,000 sites out of more than 6,000 sites referred to the top 18 horse breeds in the world.
Topping the list is the Arabian, with more than 900 support index and a close second is the American Quarter Horse with a support index of 911.

Arabian - These horses are genetically pure.
They are the very foundation of all light breeds.
They are known for their intelligence, affectionate and gentle disposition and stamina.
