Google is one of the biggest advertisers on the internet, Google provides complete advertisement solutions to the advertisers, through its wide customer data, Google put the right product at the right time and at the right place.
Google has earned its credibility over a long period of time; now advertisers trust Google more than any other website that provides such services.
Establishing credibility and maintaining it are two very different things.
Maintaining credibility is very difficult and it requires taking some tough decisions as well.

It is unethical and illegal to intrude in some ones personal data.
Google is clearly and openly intruding in to the email accounts of its customers.
You may ask that how can I say that? I can say that because I have been noticing for quite a while that whenever I open a certain email, I see related ads on the sidebar, top and bottom of the email, how can Google put the related ads to what I am reading in my email, other than reading my email? The Google has taken a very unwise step by placing ads on the emails, and it will cause Google to lose its valuable customers.
There is already a major threat for Google from Facebook and Bing.
Now Facebook search is powered by Bing and people can search anything directly from Facebook.
Facebook and Bing will cause major troubles for Google and in this scenario, intruding into its customers emails, Google is hitting axe on its own foot.
If Google keeps on going this way than soon we may see the downfall of the internet giant.
