- 1). Know what you will be using the disposable gloves for. If you are using them to paint, handle hair dye, or to clean, you may prefer plastic gloves. They are loose gloves that fit over your hand, but provide limited protection. Rubber gloves may be for you if you are handling other liquids, if you are handling bodily fluids, or if you are working with small items. Since the rubber gloves fit tightly around your hands, it works almost as though it’s another layer of your skin.
- 2). Decide if you want powdered rubber gloves or powder free gloves. The powdered gloves are usually easier to slip on and help to prevent your hands from sweating. After using these it is best to wash your hands as the powdered gloves could leave a residue on your hands that could irritate your eyes if you get the powder in them. Powder free gloves are for those that get an irritation from the powder that is used or who just prefer to use disposable gloves that won’t leave a residue.
- 3). Know if you are allergic to latex. If you are, then there are disposable latex gloves that you can purchase that are called synthetic exam gloves. You may not be able to find them in all places that carry disposable gloves or they may be sold out at the time if they don‘t carry many boxes of the latex-free free type, so make sure to call first before you go to buy them.
- 4). Buy the gloves according to the size of your hands. The large usually fits men‘s hands, while the medium fits many hands of women and also can be used by men who have smaller hands. The small is usually for women who have smaller then average hands. If you are buying rubber gloves, you especially have to make sure that they fit well so that they aren’t uncomfortable and loose and that whatever you are using won’t be able to get under the gloves. Fit is important so that you can complete the tasks correctly without having your hands be uncomfortable.
