  Medical laboratory technicians perform various duties and tasks under the supervision of a medical technologist or qualified staff. However, the nature of the work and degree of responsibility are dependent upon the type of facility. Lab techs typically work in public health agencies, hospitals,clinics and physicians offices. • The duties of the lab technician entail the direct handling and sometimes collection of specimens. This may include bodily fluids, such as blood, urine and feces.
