How to Hang a Basket of Petunias
- 1). Choose a location to hang your petunias. The spot you choose should receive plenty of sunshine.
- 2). Fill the plastic container about 2/3 full of potting soil. Make a hole in the center with your hand trowel. Remove the petunias from the seedling pots. Group two or three plants together in the hole. Back-fill the hole with the potting soil. Add more soil to the pot, filling it about 1 inch short off the rim.
- 3). Water the plant well and allow it to drain. Set the container in the center of the macrame or rope hanger. Carefully lift the container up, balancing the container evenly. Set the container and hanger back down.
- 4). Stand on your sturdy chair or stepladder to drive a large nail into the location you chose to hang your basket. Only drive the nail about 1/3 of the way in. Then remove the nail with the claw side of your hammer.
- 5). Pick up the hanger hook and turn the screw side into the hole you just made. Keep turning until the hanger hook is all the way in.
- 6). Step down from the ladder and pick up the container by the hanger hook. Hang the plant hanger on the hook.
