How to Freeze Homemade Pasta

    • 1). Make your pasta exactly as the recipe dictates. You do not need to modify the recipe in any way when preparing pasta to freeze. Stop before rolling out the dough or forming it into shapes.

    • 2). Divide the dough into amounts that you generally use at one time. If you normally make pasta only for yourself or as an ingredient in soup, for example, you can divide the dough into significantly smaller portions than if you generally use your homemade pasta to feed a large family pasta-based dinners.

    • 3). Wrap each individual piece of dough in freezer wrap. Use a complete layer of wrap; do not leave any gaps where air can access the dough. Alternatively, you can put the dough pieces into resealable plastic freezer bags.

    • 4). Place the individually packaged dough pieces into the freezer. You can store your frozen pasta dough for two to three months. Remove it from the freezer several hours before you wish to use it to let it thaw, then roll it out and shape or cut it as directed by your recipe.
