Cable TV Providers Have Improved Their Customer Service Over the Past Decade or So
If you asked them what time they were going to be there, they would not give you a time, just a day.
They could come anywhere between 9AM and 5PM, and they could totally forget to show up all together.
It all depended on the number of installers that they had come to work on any given day.
Sometimes you had to take a day off from work to get your cable TV installed, because in most cases, they did not do weekend installations.
Of course, if you did take a day off and then sit around all day and nobody happened to show up, it did not leave a very good taste in your mouth.
Back in the 70's and 80's, most cable TV companies had extremely poor reputations, and their revenues were negatively affected by the public's opinion of them.
Fortunately, they got the message, and slowly but surely, began to clean up their act.
One of the reasons for this was the consolidation of this very large industry.
When it first started out, it was very fragmented, with extremely small companies operating all over the place.
As the years past, these small firms eventually got bought up by medium sized corporations, who later were acquired by giant entertainment conglomerates.
These mega sized companies are listed on the stock exchanges, and the last thing they wanted was any negative publicity about their operations.
The following is a list of the top 10 largest cable TV companies by subscribers.
If you were to take the time and add up the number of homes that each firm has, you would see that there are not too many more potential customers for a new small company to signup.

647,000 After all, if your company is listed on the stock exchange and you are considered an unreliable firm to do business with; your stock price is surely going to suffer.
When a stock price starts to fall, you can absolutely be sure that the executives running the corporation will hear about it from their board of directors, as well as their shareholders.
There you have it, the reason why most of the cable TV providers today are known to have at least satisfactory, if not excellent customer service.
If you are too young to remember having to sit around all day for a technician to show up and either install your service, or repair something that went wrong, then you should consider yourself very fortunate.
