Information on Blue Clip Flowers
- The blue, bell-shaped flowers are available in several different shades of blue, from light to violet blue. The flowers attract hummingbirds.
- Fungi and slugs are the main enemies of blue clips; other than those, the flowers are relatively disease- and pest-resistant.
- The cooler the climate in summer, the better the chance that the plant will re-bloom. However, the University of Wisconsin's Master Gardener Program notes that re-blooming is "sparse."
- Blue clip plants are mound-shaped and good for groundcover. They spread out about one foot wide and don't send out as many runners as other cultivars of Carpathian bellflowers. The mature plant grows to about six to eight inches tall.
- Blue clips can handle sunlight levels ranging from partial shade to full sun, but they are particular about soil, requiring moist, well-drained soil that will keep their roots cool.
