Brown Leaves on Indoor Palm Plants
- Temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit can cause brown spots on the leaves. Keep daytime temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit and no lower than 60 degrees F at night. Place palm plant away from drafts such as near windows, doors and air vents.
- Do not let an indoor palm plant dry out to reduce the chance of the leaves turning brown. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil moist. Empty the saucer of standing water.
- Over-fertilization and fertilizers high in iron can cause palm leaves to turn brown. Fertilize every two to three months beginning in the spring. Do not fertilize in the winter.
