Premier League Preview: Birmingham Vs Aston Villa

It's Premier League match time at St Andrews' Ground, on January 16, in match week 23, when Birmingham are set to host Aston Villa in a second leg meeting of the season.
The first leg game, hosted at Villa Park on October 30, 2010, was a goalless draw.
McLeish's men were the happier for the result, with Villans left with just the one win from their fifth game on Houllier's watch.
Villa appeared to wake up late to the thought of winning the game, and the final third saw lost opportunities, with Clark and Young having the best scoring chances within the last 10 minutes.
Houllier shifted Clark from his preferred centre-half position to a holding midfielder role.
On the day, Aston Villa lacked creativity in midfield, thereby underlining the importance of the contribution Milner made last year.
There was a strong case to play his replacement Stephen Ireland but Houllier didn't think so and thought fit to give the less experienced Young and Clark a start ahead of Ireland.
For Birmingham, the draw marked the end to a run of 6 losses on the trot.
City dominated the first half and could have gone ahead if they had been awarded a deserved penalty on 38 minutes after a patent handling of the ball by Reo-Coker.
They would also rue a couple of missed chances by Jerome and Zigic.
Mcleish was by and large happy with his team's performance.
Ranked 15th in the points table, Birmingham have won 3 of 10 games hosted while drawing 5 and losing the remaining 2.
Aston Villa, entrenched in the relegation zone, in 18th position, have won just one of their 10 games on the road, while losing 7 and drawing 2.
Head to head, Villans have established a 6-4 lead over the Blues in the last 13 games between the sides.
Interestingly, Birmingham's last win over Villa came as far back as March 2005.
Birmingham are coming off a 2-1 win away at Blackpool in match week 22; Villa lost 1-0 at home to Sunderland during the same week.
In their last 10 games this season, City have won 2, drawn 5 and lost the remaining 3; Villa have won and drawn 2 each of their last 10, while losing 6.
On current form, Birmingham should edge Sunday's game.
Birmingham's starting eleven against Blackpool had Foster, Carr, Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Hleb, Gardner, ferguson, Fahey, Jerome and Derbyshire.
Phillips, Larsson and Beausejour featured as substitutes.
The following men were in Aston Villa's starting eleven against Sunderland: Friedel, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Clark, Young, Reo-Coker,  Petrov, Downing, Agbonlahor and Heskey.
Bannan and Albrighton were used as substitutes.
