Canine & Feline Vaccines
- Vaccines can help your dog or cat live a longer and healthier life. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, “Vaccines help prepare the body's immune system to fight the invasion of disease-causing organisms.”
- Not every canine or feline needs every vaccination available. Your veterinarian will determine the need of a vaccination based on the animal’s age, medical history, environment or lifestyle.
- A canine or feline may experience symptoms after vaccination. Symptoms may include fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea or swelling and redness around the location of the injection. Although rare, a dog or cat may develop an immune disease as a result of a vaccination.
- Common canine vaccines help prevent dogs from developing illnesses such as canine parvovirus, canine hepatitis, rabies, distemper or Bordetella.
- Feline vaccines help prevent cats from developing certain illnesses such as rabies, panleukopenia, feline calici virus, feline herpes virus type I, feline leukemia virus, Bordetella, Chylamydophila felis and feline immunodeficiency virus.
