How to Remove Temperature Restriction from a Shower
- 1). Shut off the water supply line to your shower at the dedicated shut-off valve or by turning the main water supply to the home off.
- 2). Remove the cover plate on the hot water control by inserting a flathead screwdriver between the plate and the wall and popping it off. The cover plate will dangle loosely around the hot water knob stem.
- 3). Look for a collar with two nuts or nubs around the stem of the hot water volume knob. One nub or nut will be pointed straight up in the "12 o'clock" position.
- 4). Grasp the nub or nut pointing upward with needle-nose pliers and unfasten it. Remove it from the hot water knob. Or you can turn it clockwise until it is in the desired position. The more you turn the nut or nub clockwise, the more hot the water will become when using the shower.
- 5). Replace the cover plate by popping it back in place, then turn the water supply back on. Test the hot water in your shower thereafter. You can adjust the restrictor as necessary to achieve the temperature you are most comfortable with.
