    • 1). Drill small holes in the top of the soda bottle cap with the drill or utility knife. Cut the piece from the cap creating a larger hole.

    • 2). Fill the plastic cup to a quarter of an inch from the top with water. Place the cap inside of the cup. While holding the cap at the top, begin applying glue around the cap between the cap and the cup. This creates a bridge between the cap and cup to hold it in place.

    • 3). Drill a small hole in the bottom of the soda bottle for the eye hook. It is important to make sure the fitting is tight so as not to leak air from the bottle.

    • 4). Paint your feeder if you desire. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

    • 5). Apply the flowers to the bottom edge of the cup using the glue gun. Be careful to leave the center free so that the hummingbirds can get their beaks down into the solution in the cup. Apply another layer of glue on the bottom for reinforcement. This ensures that that the cup will stay attached with the weight of the liquid inside.

    • 6). Attach the string or wire from the eye hook at the bottom of the feeder. After filling your feeder with hummingbird food, hang it in a shady place away from predators.
