How to Dry Pomegranates in a Microwave for Crafts
- 1). Dry the entire pomegranate thoroughly using the paper towel. This will ensure that no moisture is present on the skin while drying.
- 2). Pierce the skin four to five times evenly over the entire fruit using the small knife. This will allow any moisture within the fruit to vent and keep it from splitting.
- 3). Turn the microwave strength to low. This will ensure slow and even drying of the fruit.
- 4). Place a paper towel on the bottom of the microwave. Set the pomegranate on the middle of the turntable, on the towel.
- 5). Cook the pomegranate for 10 minutes. Turn it over and cook for another 10 minutes. Repeat this until the pomegranate has reduced in size and appears to be dry -- generally taking one to two hours.
- 6). Remove the pomegranate and allow it to air dry overnight in a dry, warm area. Use it as you desire for crafting, varnishing it to accentuate the red color if desired.
