The triumphant return of Autopsy, one of death metal’s founding fathers, continues in earnest. Hot on the heels of festival appearances and various tours to go along with last year’s full-length album Macabre Eternal, their first since 1995, Autopsy and Peaceville Records team up to release a new fix up compilation All Tomorrow’s Funerals.

First off, All Tomorrow’s Funerals contains three new tracks as well as a re-recorded version of “Mauled To Death,” a song which first appeared on Autopsy’s first demo from 1987 and hasn’t appeared on a proper recording since.

Second, All Tomorrow’s Funerals contains re-releases of each of Autopsy’s past four EPs, including 2010’s sold out The Tomb Within, plus newly remastered versions of the extremely hard to find EPs Retribution For The Dead (1992), Fiend For Blood (1992) and Horrific Obsession (2009).

All told, All Tomorrow’s Funerals clocks in at 73 minutes in length with 22 songs. As a bonus, new artwork from Matt Cavotta and detailed liner notes from the band are included, as well. All Tomorrow’s Funerals will be released in CD and DLP formats and will also include all original artworks of the original releases.

A compilation such as this is a no-brainer for fans of old school death metal, as Autopsy continue to show why they are considered a classic death metal band and genre benchmark. The three new tracks are straightforward, crushing death metal, the re-recorded version of “Mauled To Death” finally brings Autopsy’s entire repertoire of songs into the fold of being recorded at a high quality, and the newly remastered versions of the older material beefs up what are already classics of the genre.

Here’s your chance to fill in some of the gaps that may still remain in your Autopsy collection. What are you waiting for?

(released February 28, 2012 on Peaceville Records)
