How to Change SATA to IDE in BIOS
- 1). Restart your computer and press the “F1” key on your computer keyboard as soon as you see the Windows logo appear on your computer screen.
- 2). Press the “Up” or “Down” arrows on your computer keyboard until you’ve highlighted your computer’s hard drive.
- 3). Press “Enter” to see the BIOS settings for your hard drive. If the hard drive is IDE, then it will say “IDE” at the bottom of the hard drive’s description, and if it is a SATA hard drive, then it will say “SATA” unless there is a discrepancy with the BIOS settings. If so, you will have to change it from SATA to IDE.
- 4). Press the “Up” or “Down” arrows on your computer keyboard until you’ve highlighted the “SMART Support” option and press the “Enter” button.
- 5). Press the arrows again to highlight the “SMART Short Self-Test” option and press “Enter.”
- 6). Press “Enter” one more time to start the test. The test should take about 1 minute and will change the BIOS setting from SATA to IDE if your hard drive is actually IDE but displayed as SATA.
