    • 1). Place the package on a table. Measure the package's depth, height and width in inches using a measuring tape. Place the end of the measuring tape on the furthest end of the package and pull it across, making sure to measure all points. Write each measurement on a piece of paper and multiply all three numbers together. This will equal the cubic inches of the package.

    • 2). Divide the cubic inches of the package by 1,728, which is the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot. The total is the package's cubic feet.

    • 3). Weigh the package, in pounds, on a scale. Divide the number by the package's cubic feet. The number will be the density of the package or the weight per cubic feet.
