How to Strip out a Pressurized Starbucks Portafilter
- 1). Locate the portafilter on the bottom of the pour spout that dispenses a shot of espresso. The portafilter is secured to the apparatus with three screws. Unscrew these screws and set them to the side.
- 2). Use the flathead screwdriver to pop the pressurized portafilter unit off its mount. The portafilter should come out in one piece, and minimal pressure is necessary to remove it. Remove the spring piece from the plug, and turn the plug on its hinge away from the center using a Phillips screwdriver. Using the screwdriver, firmly but gently press on the middle of the portafilter to release the gasketed brown pressure disk from the securing white clips.
- 3). Detach the white clips from the brown disk if it can be freed easily. If there is resistance, push on the brown disk more until you can separate the two components.
- 4). Remove the brown disk and orange gasket inside the bottom of the portafilter basket.
- 5). Reattach the pour spout with the three screws you set aside when you originally unscrewed the portafilter.
