How to Publish Your Book on Amazon for a Kindle

    Instructions

    • 1). Go to www.digtaltextplatform.com to create your free Digital Text Platform (DTP) account. If you already have an account with Amazon, you may use this account information as your login and password.

    • 2). Configure your account details in the My Account tab on your Dashboard to ensure that you are paid when someone buys your content.

    • 3). Go to the My Shelf tab on your Dashboard. Click the "Add New Item" button. A pop-up box will open to allow you to enter publication details. You must enter information in the Title, Author, Language, Category and DRM (Digital Rights Management) fields.

    • 4). Click the "Add/Edit" button in the Title and Author sections. A pop-up box will open to allow you to enter information.

    • 5). Select the language of your publication from the drop-down menu. Click the "Add/Edit" button in the Category section to select an appropriate category for your publication. You may also enter keywords to describe your publication, along with the edition number, series title, and series volume (if relevant) in the spaces provided.

    • 6). Choose the appropriate radio button to enable or not enable Digital Rights Management (DRM).Upload a cover image (if you have one) in the Product Image field by pressing the "Upload Image" button. Click "Save Entries."

    • 7). Click the appropriate radio button under Confirm Content Rights to note the territories in which you hold electronic publishing rights for your book. If you choose Individual Territories, you will need to put a checkmark next to the territories in which you hold rights for your publication. Check the box under Part B of Confirm Content Rights to confirm that you have the right to upload your content. Select "Save Entries" again.

    • 8). Click on "Upload and Preview Book." Select "Browse" in order to search for the file to upload. Select your file and click "Upload." Use the "Preview" button to review your document once you see the message that your file has successfully uploaded and converted. If your document has not formatted properly, you may need to check the DTP forums for information on how to edit your document.

    • 9). Determine a price for your publication and click on "Enter Price." Choose an appropriate store for your publication and press "Save Entries." The progress indicator should show green check marks where red X's used to be, indicating that you have completed all necessary steps. You should also see that your publication has moved from Draft to Ready in the status category. Click "Publish" (to the right of the status indicator bar). In 48 hours (or 2 to 3 days for non-English titles), your publication will be available in the Amazon Store.
