How to Use & Return Toner Cartridges
- 1). Open the toner cartridge cover on the printer. For large format laser printers, the toner cartridge cover is usually located on the right side of the printer. On smaller laser printers, the toner cartridge is usually installed under the front door, which is simply pulled forward to open.
- 2). Grasp the exposed toner cartridge by the handle and pull it free of the printer. Set the used cartridge aside and take the new toner cartridge out of the box.
- 3). Remove all packaging materials from around the new cartridge. Pull the tab that seals the toner inside the unit, and remove any protective tab from the outside of the toner cartridge.
- 4). Grasp the new toner cartridge by the handle and carefully insert it into the printer until it snaps into place. Close the toner cartridge cover.
- 5). Place the used toner cartridge inside the plastic bag that contained the new cartridge. If the bag is not available, wrap the cartridge in plastic wrap. Seal securely with packing tape to prevent spillage of residual toner powder during shipment.
- 6). Place the used cartridge in the box previously occupied by the new cartridge and seal securely. Locate the shipping label supplied with the new toner cartridge and affix it to the outside of the box. If you do not have a shipping label, you can print one by visiting the printer manufacturer's website and searching for the link to the recycling center. You can also take used toner cartridges to many office supply stores and public libraries which may have recycling bins for disposal of used toner cartridges.
