Kevin & Kelly come face to face at the truck stop somewhere around North Carolina. Kelly has read the Sun and knows about Kevin's political problems in a failed attempt to assassinate the governor. Kevin, under suspicion in the investigation, has now fled town. Kelly isn't entirely convinced Kevin wasn't involved in the plot and refuses to divulge the lead she is chasing.

Jessica is ill in hospital.

The beautiful Dr. Paige Miller (who is dating Bo) is worried about Jessica's condition. The stab would could have lacerated an internal organ (her liver). Jessica has developed a high fever from the infection. They are awaiting test results... Viki is told that it is indeed possible Jessica could die. Antonio walks in and overhears this. Later, Paige will call Bo and give him an update on his niece.

Antonio starts to lose it, but recovers. As Viki is by Jessica's bedside pleading to her to come back, Antonio has a close-up... "Tico" he mutters.... as if this is all Tico's fault. [If Tico dies, Antonio will have taken his own brother's life. Better that than to shoot a crooked politician. Guess Antonio just didn't like being blackmailed.] Antonio stays with Jessica after a while after Viki leaves. David (offscreen) has called Evangeline to represent him as his lawyer. She was at the police station to see him. Evangeline speaks to John, a cop and also her boyfriend.

Natalie, after having eaten burgers in the park with John, shakes off the guilty look and enters Cristian's hospital room to find him in a nightmare.

After Cristian awakes, Natalie gets him to admit that while prisoner on the ship, he was subject to beatings and even torture. He fought to escape the entire time and made it out of his cell a few times only to get caught up on deck. Finally this last time, he made it. Wow, Cris seems to have a new depth as well. He blames Tico Santi for everything he went through this past year.

Sonia tries to visit her brother Tico who is in hospital in a coma. He is lifeless with a breathing tube down his throat. He resembles a hooked shark.

But he is so still and I can only remember how nice and suave he once was. [I will miss Tico Santi. Could he be the man who controlled Mitch Lawrence (connected via Walker Flynn)? If so what chaos will he bring back to Llanview in revenge? [Mitch Lawrence came back many years later with Natalie intro storyline.] Hope Tico slips away and lives only to come back and control things and take credit for all loose story threads in the future.]

John arrives outside Tico's hospital room and Sonia tells him she is leaving for an assignment in Hawaii. John tells Sonia that Jessica is fighting for her life. Some time later Sonia goes to see Antonio and they get to say another goodbye. She obviously still has feelings for him but tells him Jessica is a fighter. Antonio says how he should have killed Tico when he had the chance.

Andriana goes to the police station to see after David and her mother Dorian who are both in custody. Bo tells her he has evidence, Duke tries to get her to leave quietly and Nora brings up Tico. Adriana is beautiful and strong as she says she doesn't want to discuss Tico. Later she has a scene with Antonio and still can't believe Tico did all the horrible things Antonio and Cristian say he did.

While speaking with Antonio Adriana goes on to say that it was only Antonio who never trusted Tico and as it turns out he was right. She is angry with Tico too and wants to know how he could do such things. But the love Jessica needs must come first before any hatred for Tico, she warns. Adriana wants to light a candle for Jessica.

After Bo gets the news from Dr. Paige Miller, he tells John, who will later tell Natalie that Jessica is not doing well. Not too much later, Paige is more confident as Jessica is now on an antibiotic. Her test results had come in. Not all the complications they had spoke of earlier but just some inflammation of the stomach region, common to stab wounds.

Kelly and Kevin summarize this past year's events: She was so in love and determined to make him happy. While Kevin was panting after her cousin Blair, Kelly became desperate. {Also having given birth alone and learning the baby had died alone didn't help Kelly either.} Kevin sees it as she lies and lies and cared less and less. (This character has consistently been a jerk! This actor does Kevin so well. He really believes everything was all Kelly's fault.) Up to the baby stealing part and that was Paul.

John runs into Natalie after she leaves Cristian's room. She returns the coat she left the park with earlier in the day and says she thought they were best to stay away from each other. He says it is business and then tells her about her sister. Natalie leaves immediately and takes an elevator to go and see Jessica ("her twin").
