How to Clear the Address Bar

    • 1). Clear the address bar in Internet Explorer. Click the "Tools" button on the toolbar and select "Internet Options." This opens a dialog box. Select the "General" tab and click the "Delete" button under "Browsing History." Click "OK" when the process is complete. You can also access this dialog box outside Internet Explorer. Click the Start button, select "Control Panel" and choose "Network and Internet." Click "Internet Options" to produce the box and follow the steps to delete the history.

    • 2). Remove your history from Mozilla Firefox. Click "Tools" on the toolbar and choose "Options." Firefox allows you to select how much of the browsing history you wish to delete, from the last hour to everything. Choose "Everything" from the "Time Range" drop-down menu to clear your history completely. Click the "Browsing and download history" box and any other option you desire under "Details." Click "Clear now" to implement the change.

    • 3). Clear the address history in Google Chrome. Click the button with the image of a wrench on the toolbar. This is the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button. Choose "Options" from the drop-down menu. Click the "Under the hood" tab and click on the "Clear browsing data" button. Click the box beside "Clear browsing history" then click the "Clear browsing data" button.

    • 4). Check the address bar to verify that stored information has been cleared. After clearing the history using one of the previous steps, click the arrow at the corner of the address bar. This will produce the drop-down menu under the address bar. If the process was successful the menu will be empty. If not, repeat the process.
