How to Make a Jean Jacket Look Worn
- 1). "Whiskers": Whiskers are the faded white lines found on denim in areas where the denim has worn from wear. These lines are usually on the front of the jean jacket below the breast pocket. While wearing your jacket, use chalk to mark the places where you want your whisker marks. Take your jacket off and spritz it with water. Take the bleach pen and trace over the whisker chalk marks.
- 2). Sheared: Use the shears to tear the elbow area or places where the jacket is naturally most stressed. Cut a small slit and then tear open a little more with your fingers to give the tear a naturally worn look. Other areas that experience tearing are near the pockets, the buttons and around the collar.
- 3). Ripped Seams: Take the seam ripper and sporadically pull the stitching apart around the cuff and buttons. Be careful not to rip vital areas; stay away from areas of stitch that hold the jacket together.
- 4). Complete the Look: Throw your jacket in the washer and dryer to help fray the seams you have torn and enhance the worn style.
