What Makes UGG Boots So Special and Different?
These boots with tanned outer surface are made out of twin faced sheepskin and have fleece on the inside; soles of these boots are often synthetic. These boots are excellent for cold weather as they are incredibly soft and warm. Though these boots should not be worn during severe winters, wet conditions or when it is excessively muddy. These boots keep the feet dry and at body temperature because the fleece inside the boots draws away moisture. These boots have a lot of varieties like lace up or pull on varieties. The height of these boots also varies; there are some that are above the ankle and some that are just above the knee. Some of the UGG boots are flat heeled slip ons, some have chunky heels while a few of them have laces.
These boots can be worn without socks as the thick fleece on the inner part of the boot draws away moisture and allows air circulation thus keeping the feet at body temperature. These boots have thermostatic properties due to the presence of sheepskin. Although there are some back draws of wearing these without socks. Firstly the fleece lining causes the feet to sweat and secondly the sweat from the feet gets trapped in the fleece which may result to malodorous boots. There are also some synthetic varieties which are considered to be fake and are also cheap.
Some UGG boots are made from kangaroo leather and fur. These are comfortable to wear and come in various designs and colours. The boots that are made for women come in colours like pink, purple, and chocolate, etc. while boots for men come in black, grey, brown and other neutral colours. These boots have been criticised about and has been demanded to be boycotted as they are made from animal skin. The animal liberating movement has demanded that these should be replaced by those that are not made out of animal skin. Previously the word "ugg" was a generic term that meant Australian sheepskin boots.
