- 1). Use RAR Password Cracker (see Resources). RAR Password Cracker is a utility that can analyze the level of encryption on your RAR file, determine the appropriate password or numerical sequence and then remove that password so that you can access the contents of the file. RAR Password Cracker comes in two versions -- a free evaluation version and a full version that you can buy if you choose to continue use of the program after the expiration of the evaluation period.
- 2). Use cRARk (see Resources). cRARk is a program specifically designed to recover the password of a RAR archive file if you've set it and then forgot what it is. Unlike RAR Password Cracker, cRARk is freeware. This is a type of software utility that is completely free to use, with no trial version and no product key that you must purchase.
- 3). Use Advanced RAR Password Recovery (see Resources). Advanced RAR Password Recovery is a program for finding RAR passwords aimed at older operating systems, such as Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows 98. Advanced RAR Password Recovery comes with an evaluation version that will find part of your lost password to prove that it works. The full version of the software is $30 to purchase as of January 2011.
