During the weight loss phase, a meal of lean protein serving and 3 servings of different vegetables should be taken.
This is called the 5 + 1 phase which you have to follow until desired weight is achieved.
Medifast vs Atkins Medifast is taking in low in calorie and low in carb foods but without the unhealthy fat of Atkins.
When you take around 1000 calories per day, your body will start burning fat.
It may have some mild side effects but not anything bad such as the effects of Atkins.
I've achieved my desired weight.
What's next? Now that you have reached your desired weight, it never stops there.
You cannot go back to your usual eating habits.
Transition phase comes next, where the usual everyday foods will gradually be put back to your diet.
Again, you will be given a time plan and instructions to follow.
It will increase your calorie intake slowly by taking in low fat milk, grains and starchy vegetables.
At this stage you will be taking in 2 - 3 Medifast meals a day and the rest, your normal diet.
This phase will take about 4 - 12 weeks depending on the weight you have gained.
You will also be required to exercise regularly 5 times weekly.
As we all know, dieting without exercise is completely pointless.
After the transition phase comes the Maintenance phase.
In this phase, your will be introduced to more calories and food groups but Medifast states that you might like to go on having 1 or 2 of their meal substitutes per day.
The main thought by now is that you have eliminated your bad eating habits and are used to the new habits you have learned along with regular exercise.
