How to Set Up NCTC DSL Modems
- 1). Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem in your computer to the DSL modem provided by NCTC. Ethernet cables are often provided by NCTC but in the case that you didn't get one, they are inexpensively available at any electronics retail store.
- 2). Connect a standard telephone cable from the DSL modem to the telephone jack on your wall. If you are also using the telephone jack as a landline, use a filter between the telephone cable and the telephone jack. Both telephone cables and filters are often provided by NCTC but in the case of not having them, they are also inexpensively available at any electronics retail store.
- 3). Connect the power cord from the DC adaptor to an electrical outlet and to the DSL modem, then power on the modem and, if your computer is not on, power on your computer. Note that it is not necessary to have your computer shut off to set up a DSL modem.
- 4). Insert the DSL modem's software CD into your computer's disk drive and install the software to your computer. Once a connection has been established between the DSL modem and NCTC's server, you'll have access to the Internet.
