How to Build a Pro Skateboard

    • 1). Purchase your favorite skater's pro board online or from your local skate shop. Buy your favorite pro's signature wheels and trucks. Purchase a sheet of grip tape, a small bag of hardware and a set of bearings. Acquire or buy a skate tool along with a screwdriver and box cutter.

    • 2). Lay your recently purchased pro board on a hard, level surface. Clear an area before peeling off the backing paper from the grip tape. Avoid contact with other materials when attempting to grip the pro board. Starting at the nose of the board, which has a concave shape, apply the grip tape onto the top of the wooden surface on the pro board. Scrape the outline of the pro board with the edge of the metal screwdriver. Slice along the same area with the box cutter to remove the excess grip tape from the pro board. Sand down the rough edges of the pro board with an extra piece of the grip tape.

    • 3). Push the sharp end of the screwdriver through the eight holes in the pro board to puncture the grip tape. Slide one bolt through each of the newly created holes. Flip the pro board over so the grip tape faces down.

    • 4). Place one bearing onto the knob of the skate tool. Press the bearing into the opening of one of the four wheels. Repeat this process until each wheel houses two bearings. Insert two wheels onto each truck. Tighten the large nuts over the wheels to fasten them to the trucks.

    • 5). Fit the trucks onto the eight bolts that have been inserted through the holes. Apply one small nut onto each of the eight bolts. Secure the nuts with the skate tool while tightening the screws with the screwdriver. Flip the pro board over and check to make sure it has been successfully built.
