    • 1). Turn off the water to the faucet by closing the home's water line, located near the water heater.

    • 2). Take the handle off. First, remove the screw along the base or on top of the handle, with an Allen wrench or screwdriver. Remove the plastic cover or cap to access the screw if necessary. Slide off the handle once the screw is removed.

    • 3). Remove the bonnet cap, the round washer under the handle by unscrewing it and taking it off. Unscrew the mounting nut or retaining nut, located right under the bonnet by turning it to the left.

    • 4). Take out the cartridge by gripping the stem with pliers and lifting it out of the faucet body.

    • 5). Insert a new cartridge in place of the old one.

    • 6). Place the mounting nut back on the faucet body and tighten it to the right. Replace the bonnet nut and handle, and tighten the handle's screw with the Allen wrench or screwdriver. Then turn on the water and check the faucet for leaks.
