What Does it Take to Be an Online Personal Trainer? Part 1
Could you benefit from an online personal trainer? Of course you could! Let's take a few minutes to see what it takes to be an effective online personal trainer.
First things first, you must be a personal trainer.
Secondly, you must, Must, MUST have experience in training and interacting with clients in real life.
There is no way you can know how to help others without experience.
Where, you might ask, can I get experience if nobody will hire me because of the sheer reason that I don't have any experience.
My tip would be to get certified and train friends and family members for FREE.
Your clients will have limitations such as injuries, health conditions, medications, etc.
Most of them will also have limited exercise equipment.
You, as a trainer, will have to be flexible with your exercises and be able to modify them based on the client's needs/equipment.
Thirdly, you must have online knowledge in order to make an easy to use interface.
The next step would be to find clients.
Once you get online clients, it is important to maintain a constant line of communication.
Online personal training clients will have TONS of questions, which is normal.
You, as a trainer, must be knowledgeable enough to answer their questions, and the guts to tell them that you don't know if you honestly don't know.
If you find yourself in this situation you should tell your client that you haven't had that particular question before and will find the answer for them.
At this point you should use your resources.
These resources should include other trainers, doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, etc.
