Lower Your Blood Pressure and Resentment by Re-assessing the Situation and Then Make Needed Changes

Living with a senior on a daily basis can be difficult at times for an elder home care giver.
Daily situations can turn into resentment and then chronic high blood pressure if the care giver cannot find a way to alleviate the aggravation as depicted in the following challenge.
Mom had been living with us for over two years.
When she first came to live with us my husband installed a handicap bar in the bathroom along side the toilet stool.
It provided my mother stability when going to the bathroom as the handicap raised toilet chair would tip if too much weight was placed on one side.
As she aged it was more difficult during the night to completely urinate in the toilet because of confusion and being partially awake.
At first it just seemed to be an accident, but then it became a regular occurrence.
My blood pressure increased and so did my resentment at having to clean the urine up at three in the morning.
After the bathroom trip I would lie awake an hour or so afterward and then be grumpy the next day.
The thing that really bugged me was the puddle of urine that I had to clean up in the middle of the night.
How to solve this blood pressure rising problem.
Obviously something had to change, but sometimes it is not obvious what that change needs to be.
One morning I woke up and knew exactly what to do.
Thank you, subconscious for being on the job.
It is sometimes easier to accept irritating circumstances if they are not staring you in the face; the urine puddle.
This is the solution I came up with: I bought a new toilet seat cover and three new throw rugs with rubberized backing, all the same color for Mom's bathroom.
The rug can be placed so it is touching the toilet thus catching any dribbles or potential puddles.
Yes, the puddles still occur in the middle of the night, but I cannot see them and do not feel compelled to get out the cleaning spray and clean it up at 3 AM.
In the morning, as I tidy up the house, I remove the soiled rug, clean the floor and lay down a clean, reserved rug.
The bathroom is clean and refreshed, ready to meet the day.
My blood pressure is under control and I do not resent having to tidy up the bathroom.
My day starts out very good because I was able to go back to sleep at 3:10 AM.
