    Arguments

    • A manipulator often argues emotionally rather than logically. This makes it hard to understand the argument and impossible to win or even to get your opinion heard because it's illogical. The manipulator will make selfish favors and requests that lack logic. Manipulators use emotional-based arguments because he knows there isn't any logical argument he can use to persuade you.

    Love

    • Manipulators appeal to your love. "If you loved me ..." you would do such and such.

Manipulators also routinely use the words "us" and "trust" to get what they want.

    Guilt and Flattery or Intimidation

    • A manipulator will also make you feel guilty if you don't do what he wants.

Another tactic is using fake flattery, showering you with compliments or intimidating you by becoming angry when you don't bend to their will. Manipulators will use force and aggression to get you to submit to their will.

    Other People Are Stupid

    • A manipulator thinks other people are stupid and relies on their ignorance so he can be superior and control them.

    The Quick Change-Up

    • He may change course in the middle of a conversation to confuse you. The manipulator wants to keep you off guard and frazzled.

    Self-Centered

    • A manipulator is self-centered and doesn't consider the desires, right and needs of others.

    You Feel Trapped

    • When you are manipulated you may feel trapped and that you have lost your freedom.
