Should You Put A Timeline For Your Goals?

103 6
When most people are taught to set their goals they are told to Dream, Write them down and Set a Time Frame when they would like to achieve it.
Some of those very same people will set unrealistic goals and literally do everything in their power to get goals achieved.
Some reach their goals and some don't but this is the way it is usually taught.
After hearing a CD series that was lent to me by a good friend I met at a local BNI meeting, this concept was taught differently.
Before hearing the CD series I was taught like everyone else.
They call it "Dream Building".
You would Dream of your goals such as a new car, vacations, money, time freedom, college education for your children, etc.
Then the next step is to write it down on a piece of paper and stick it where you will see it everyday.
It didn't stop there, I was taught to cut pictures out of a magazine and stick it on the paper that I wrote my goals on.
The reason for that was so I can visualize as well as read my goals that I set in place.
Now the last thing that I was taught was to put a Timeline on my goals.
For example, reach the next level in the company in 2 weeks, sponsor business partners in 1 week, qualify for specific awards in 6 months, etc.
Doing everything I was told to do wasn't the problem, it was achieving them within that time frame that I set in place by my up-line and myself.
So how can you avoid this? First, you have to get a piece of paper and pen and write down your goals.
Now your ALL of goals should be written down as if MONEY isn't an object.
Don't prejudge your goals, just write them down as if you had an endless flow of cash and/or complications.
Second, you need to rate them from 1 through 10.
1 being the lowest possibility that you will achieve the goal and 10 being highest you will achieve.
Now don't think about how you are going to achieve your goals that you wrote down, but rate them based on your believability that you will achieve them.
Third, do not put a timeline on your goals.
Why? If you don't reach it in that time frame you will get frustrated and it can cause you to think it is not possible.
Time line on goals makes you feel uncomfortable and uneasy to take action.
If one of your goals is to replace your job, most likely you have a good reason to quit your job.
Most people don't like their job because they are told when to start, when to take a break and when they can leave.
It's the same feeling when you set time lines on your goal, most feel like they are under pressure.
Forth, take your goals that have 7 or higher and see if when you read them it makes you Joyful.
If it doesn't make you smile or happy it's not your time yet for that goal.
You have to develop a BURNING DESIRE when you want your goals to come to reality.
How do you do that? THINK ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME!! You become what you think about most of the time.
Last, when you wake up think about and say your goals.
In the middle of the day and just before bed think about and say your goals again.
This concept over time will eventually embed into your subconscious mind and all of a sudden you will be singing it, saying it, breathing it, smelling it ALL THE TIME without you forcing yourself to put this into habit.
I'm going to end this article by saying you must be positive NO MATTER WHAT happens in your life or while you are trying to accomplish your dreams and goals.
There will always be a Roadblock to your goals but it's up to you to Detour around them to get to your Dreams.
The only way to overcome the Roadblock is to stay positive and to stay committed to your Dreams and Goals.
