Celebrating your daughter's birthday is a great time to let her dress up and tap into her inner glamour girl. There are many different ways to approach a glamour girl birthday party, depending on your child's age. Younger girls may be more concerned with dress-up and play-acting, while teenagers might prefer to sip fake cocktails (like Shirley Temple) and watch glamorous actresses in movies from the 1940s and 1950s. Still, there are activities that glamour girls of all ages can enjoy. - Giving your daughter and her friends the opportunity to manicure their nails will make them feel very glamorous. Pick out a selection of inexpensive nail polish from the local drugstore (you can usually find bottles for less than $2), buy some nail files (for older girls only) and let them have fun giving each other manicures. For an especially luxurious touch, you may be able to hire an esthetician from a local spa to give the girls mini-manicures; however, this option may be quite expensive, particularly for larger groups of girls.
- Go to a vintage or second-hand store (even somewhere like the Salvation Army will work well) and find as many high-heeled shoes in small sizes as you can. Try to come back with at least one pair per girl. You can also let the girls try on your own high heels, though only attempt this if you are absolutely finished with wearing them. For younger girls, make sure their heels aren't too high so that they don't trip while wearing them.
- Go through a selection of women's magazines and pull out the perfume samples they offer. Most magazines feature at least two or three. Assemble a collection of these so that the girls can go through and pick their favorite scents. Don't give them too many options though---or you'll have a roomful of scents.
- Ask all of the girls to bring their favorite dress-up clothes, or evening gowns that their mothers no longer want. In the meantime, search through second-hand shops for small-sized evening gowns and gloves. Try to assemble a collection of at least two dresses per girl, so that they can all have their choice of dresses that make them into the glamour girl they want to be!
