Appearance and Grooming

• Bich-Poos are small in size, weighing about 6 to 15 pounds and and ranging in height from 6 to 12 inches tall. Their coats consist of medium-long curls that are typically white in color but can also be black, blue, apricot, chocolate or gray. People with allergies may prefer Bich-Poos since they are hypoallergenic and do not have a lot of dander. Like Poodles, Bich-Poos do not shed their fur. Dog owners can style their Bich-Poos' fur similar to a Bichon Frise's or Poodle's fur. A Bich-Poo's fur needs to be trimmed short every two to four months and brushed throughout the week to prevent knots and tangles.
  
  

Temperament

• Bich-Poos possess character traits of both the Bichon Frise and the Poodle; however, temperaments can vary in Bich-Poos. Bichon Frise dogs are known for their playfulness and gentleness and do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Poodles possess keen intelligence and are loyal companions that crave attention. Bich-Poos are generally intelligent, energetic, friendly, sensitive and affectionate animals. They get along well with children, cats and other dogs. Known to act as watchdogs, Bich-Poos are suspicious of strangers and strange sounds.
  
  

Medical Health

• Bich-Poos live, on average, 12 to 16 years, and compared to purebred Poodles, they are less prone to genetic disorders. Cleaning your dog's ears once a week can prevent ear infections, and keeping your dog's dental care up-to-date can prevent tooth loss. Since Bich-Poos are prone to skin disorders and skin allergies, take your Bich-Poo to the veterinarian for a skin exam. Bich-Poos can also have diabetes, epilepsy and eye problems.
  
  

Exercise and Training

• As energetic dogs, Bich-Poos need daily play and exercise. Take your dog for daily walks and keep it from chewing on furniture or household items by letting it play with chew toys. Bich-Poos should begin obedience and social training when they are young. Bich-Poos are known to learn tricks easily. They can also bark excessively if they are not trained properly.
