Eagles waive Travis Long

The Philadelphia Eagles have waived Travis Long, one day after learning he suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

The report comes from ESPN's Field Yates. If Long goes unclaimed (most likely), he will revert to the team's injured reserve. More importantly, the move puts the Eagles back at 89, leaving a spot open for a corresponding move.

The outside linebacker injured himself during a special teams drill on Monday.

It was a non-contact injury. This is the third such injury the 24-year-old has had in his football career and second in a row. His last tear occurred in the 2014 preseason finale.

Chip Kelly said the team will look to sign an outside linebacker during his press conference prior to Tuesday's practice.
