Nontreatment

• While genital warts are treatable during an outbreak, in most cases the condition resolves itself without treatment.
  
  

Discomfort

• If the genital warts virus is causing you irritability such as itching, pain, or burning, your doctor may recommend treatment in order to dissolve the warts.
  
  

Topical Treatment

• You doctor may prescribe Imiquimod, a topical cream that helps your body fight off the virus.
  
  

Trichloroacetic Acid

• If imiquimod is unsuccessful, your doctor may recommend trichloroacetic acid. Trichloroacetic acid is a chemical used to burn off the warts.
  
  

Surgery

• If the genital warts are large, your doctor may recommended surgical removal of the genital warts. Surgical removal may also include freezing the wart so that the tissue dies and falls off.
