These diaper cakes make an adorable present for a mom-to-be at a baby shower and are a classy way to give her a head start on all of the diapers she will soon need to purchase. There are many ways to decorate your diaper cake, so customize it according to the theme of the shower, the mother's preferences or simply what supplies you have in your house.
  
  

Flower Diaper Cake

• A flower diaper cake is a perfect centerpiece for a sophisticated and fancy baby shower. You can choose whatever color flowers you want, but make sure to get fake ones because real ones will start to fade quickly out of water. You can make this cake by arranging a large circle of diapers in a single layer and securing with a thin strip of flower wrapping paper around the perimeter. Repeat this step to make a smaller second layer and do it again to make the top layer, which should be the smallest. Stack the three layers and stuff a bouquet of flowers through the uppermost layer so that they stick out the top. This looks the best if the bouquet of flowers matches the color of the flowers on the wrapping paper.
  
  

Sailboat Diaper Cake

• This diaper cake is slightly more complicated to make, but is a stunning present for a mom-to-be who knows that she is having a boy. You can adjust and simplify the steps according to your preferences, as well.
  
  To make this cake, you want to create the same three layers of diapers as the one above, but wrap them in a light blue wrapping paper. On the front of each layer, glue a nautical-themed picture, like an anchor, sailboat or fish. After you stack the layers, you can fill in the spaces above each row with thick layers of blue ribbon to resemble water.

• This option works well for a mother having either a boy or a girl and doesn't have to be given at a baby shower. For this diaper cake, wrap the layers in colorful and festive paper, stack them on top of each other and then attach all kinds of little gifts and knick-knacks. You can tie on pacifiers, bottles, onesies, socks, stuffed animals and anything else small that would be useful for her to have.
