An Inside Look at the Life of a Professional Sports Gambler
We recently interviewed a sports bettor who discussed his life as a gambler and how he makes a living at it.
He's an exciting guy who was a lot of fun to talk to.
We will refer to him as "Steve" as he asked for his real name not to be revealed.
"I've experienced the highest highs and a lot of lows and I wouldn't trade it for the world"..
..
..
I thought I would put this quote - something he said near the end of our discussion, right at the start.
It truly captures his journey as a sports bettor.
Many people think betting on sports for a living must be easy, but one thing that Steve stressed was that that wasn't the case: "...
I've had a lot of cold streaks.
A lot of weeks or months where I was just bleeding money.
It's times like those that you really have to have faith in what you do cause it can be easy to just want to give it all up or just throw logic out the window and make a massive bet to make it back...
" Listening to some of the cold streaks he's had was an eye-opener.
I think many people assume that pro gamblers are always winning, however Steve made it clear that wasn't the case.
"I don't win every day, every week or even every month.
But I'm confident that over any six month period, I'll come out ahead.
" "For me, the key is to not chase my losses and increase my bet sizes during a slump.
Instead, I keep doing what I'm doing and I'll also hunt out for some good deposit bonuses from online sportsbooks in order to give my bankroll a little boost.
" Now don't get the impression that he doesn't love what he does, in fact he's almost arrogantly clear that he does: "I love it man, I absolutely love it.
I mean, who wouldn't want to bet on sports for a living? Yeah I work and take time to analyze the games, but it's fun.
And I work a hell of a lot less and drive a lot nicer car than most people do.
I'll take my job over any other any day of the week...
" Question is, will Steve share any of his secrets with us? :) "That's always a bad question because I look at so many different things.
I look at things like momentum, scheduling, umpires, recent team chemistry...
a lot of things most people don't.
So I guess my advice is to find the things most bettors don't look at and try to find an angle.
" When asked if he's ever bet more than he could afford to lose: "Yes.
I have and it was a stupid thing to do.
That's when I was really just starting, now I don't take the risks I used to and my profits are a lot better because of it.
No one should ever put their welfare on the line.
A big thanks to Steve for chatting with us!
