11. Scotty McCreery - "Up on the Roof" (Drifters)

Duet number two during Top 6 week of American Idol season 10came from Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. While they did a decentjob of singing "Up on the Roof," there was a spark missing from the songthat caused it to be less than memorable. "Up on the Roof" hit the popcharts in two different forms during the sixties and the seventies. In1962, doo-wop group The Drifters took a decidedly R&B version of "Upon the Roof" to number four on the Soul chart and number five on thePop chart. Almost twenty years later, James Taylor covered the song in amore folk-pop arrangement and took the song to number 28.

12. "Flat on the Floor" (Katrina Elam)

American Idol season 10 mentor Jimmy Iovine brought Sheryl Crow in for Top 5 week to work with the contestants, and she provided somestrong feedback and suggestions for all five singers. Her advice for Lauren Alaina was to stand her ground and just sing the song. Unfortunately, LaurenAlaina did not heed that advice, and her vocal delivery was a bit weakerthan one would expect from the powerful singer. While American Idol season four winner Carrie Underwood recorded "Flat on the Floor" for her Carnival Ride CD, the song was originally recorded by Katrina Elam, who took the song to number 52 on the Country chart in 2007.

13. "Unchained Melody" (Righteous Brothers)

There are a few notes in pop music that everyoneknows, recognizes and expects whenever they hear the song. One of thosenotes is the high note in the last minute of "Unchained Melody," and when people hear that song, they want to hear it. Unfortunately for American Idol season 10's Lauren Alaina, she did not hit that note when sheperformed the song during Top 5 week. Whether it was nerves or stress orsome other reason, it hurt Lauren Alaina's standing at acrucial moment in the competition. Although most people associate"Unchained Melody" with the Righteous Brothers from 1965, the song wasactually written for a movie called Unchained in 1955 and hit the pop charts several times in the fifties.

Lauren Alaina's second song on American Idol season 10's Top 4 was achallenge not from a vocal standpoint, but rather from a lyricalstandpoint. 21. "Like My Mother Does" (Kristy Lee Cook)

While Scotty McCreery's final song on American Idol season10 wasn't a perfect fit for him, Lauren Alaina could not have asked fora more appropriate song.
