Effective Dog Training Tips

While training your dog may seem impossible at times, you have to remember that a dog's biggest desire is to make you happy.
If properly motivated, along with a few helpful tips, teaching your dog to do something like "sit" is really quite easy.
The first tip for effective training is train your beloved canine on an empty stomach.
Most dogs are food motivated, and rewarding them with positive reinforcements like tasty treats are great ways to get your dog to repeat desired behaviors.
Repetition is key.
When you give a command and assist them in doing it, reward them and then do it again, and again, and again, and..
..
Short training lessons a few times a day is the key.
Most trainers will recommend that you spend no more than 15 minutes at a time trying to teach new tricks.
Just like humans, dogs can become confused and frustrated as well, and when they are in that frame of mind they are unlikely to pick up anything new.
After you've spent 10 to 15 minutes trying a new trick, take an hour or two break before you start again.
It will be more than enough time for both of you to relax and get a fresh mind.
Keep a positive attitude.
Believe it or not but dogs pick up on your attitude and it affects their learning ability.
The tone you use when you speak, the way you move your body..
your dog notices these things and will match your feelings.
If you become stressed, so will the dog.
If you become frustrated, perhaps it's time you both take a break.
When possible, stand tall and use your "dominant" voice.
(meaning not your "good boy" higher pitched voice) Your dog needs to know the difference between "playing voice" and "pay attention" voice.
Lastly, be patient.
Most dogs will not be able to master a new trick or desired behavior in one day, so don't become discouraged if it takes a few days.
Some dogs will learn faster than others.
One tip that is often forgotten but needs to be mentioned is have fun.
When you have fun, your dog has fun, and you will both enjoy the training time together better and get more out of it.
