How to Hit a Golf Ball Straight Every Time

Every golfer aspires to hit the golf ball straight every time and as every golfer knows, this is no easy task.
Because golfers swing in a circular motion, there will always be curves in golf.
In order to truly hit a straight shot, the club must hit the ball exactly at the middle of the head, and the club face must be pointing exactly towards the hole.
Because making these two conditions occur consistently is extremely difficult, it is important to learn to control curve of the ball, thus controlling your shot.
A great way to achieve this control is through proper mechanics.
Proper mechanics start with quality golf clubs with appropriate flex.
The clubs need not be expensive, but they should match your type of shot.
If your shot tends to be short or if your swing lacks strength, a woman's or senior's club is recommended.
If you have a very strong swing and an above average shot distance, use clubs with a stiff or extra-stiff shaft.
The next element of a straight golf shot is to have a strong but not overly tight grip on the club, as too much tension will skew the shot.
To increase shot strength, move your hands to the right for right-handed golfers and to the left for the left-handed.
Once you have your grip adjusted, position yourself for your swing.
Stand with your legs shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent.
Your legs and shoulders must be parallel to your intended target for shot accuracy.
It is also important to position yourself correctly in relation to the ball.
Your rear foot's instep should be opposite the ball, and you should stand at a distance from the ball that will allow for solid contact.
Steady swing speed is vital to hitting a straight shot, as power comes from speed.
Be sure to avoid cocking your wrist at the top of your backswing in an effort to increase power.
This will only result in changing the angle of your swing, and hence a missed shot.
It is also very helpful to keep your eye on the ball during the swing.
Your swing tends to follow your gaze so if you are looking away, your aim will be off.
Practice of proper mechanics will result in consistent control of the curve, enabling you to hit a golf ball straight every time.
Lastly, always remember to practice it correctly as practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent!
