As you are probably aware, Apple has released their new version of the iPhone and they still need testers.
Apple as like other companies need people like you and me to test out their products.
Our compensation is getting this item for free.
There are many different offers out there and yes, some are scams.
You need to be very careful.
In this article I will explain the pros and cons of free offers and what precautions you should take.
The Pros If you purchase the new iPhone at AT&T with a two year contract the phone will cost $199.
If you purchase it in a store to avoid the two year contract the phone will cost between $599 to $699 dependent on which version you decide to buy.
They have two versions.
One is their 16 gig and the other is their 32 gig of data storage.
This is a big expense just for a cell phone.
These free cell phone offers give you a chance to test out the phone and keep the phone free of charge.
You still have to activate it at your local AT&T phone, but being that you got this cell phone free, you do not have to tie yourself into a two year contract.
The Cons and the Precautions to Take First of all you should know that you can only become a cell phone tester if Apple is still looking for someone in your area.
There is a possibly that they are not looking for someone in your area and you would be giving them your email address and/or cell phone number for nothing.
What these free cell phone offers ask from you is to give them your email address, cell phone number or both.
When you give them this information, you will most likely be receiving emails, text messages and telephone calls.
You would probably start receiving spam emails as well.
Before you give anyone an email address, be sure you create a free email that is separate from the email you use regularly.
You can get a free email account from Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.
You can always delete that email just in case the spam starts pouring in.
If you are required to give your cell phone number, you might start receiving text messages.
When you get these text messages, reply to that message the word "STOP".
If you start receiving calls on your cell, just tell the person on the phone that you want to be removed from their call list and that would take care of that problem.
The issues above should be the only issues.
Never and I mean NEVER give your credit or debit information when you apply to any of these cell phone offers, because it would most likely be a scam.
Always avoid any offer that is asking for payment.
Remember this is supposed to be free cell phone offers for testers.
If they ask for payment, then it is a scam.
