I Am an Abortion Survivor

I have always been very interested in human psychology, in particular how events during our time in the womb can affect us psychologically.
Some years ago I began to explore my own psychological problems and wondered whether they had a prenatal origin.
The symptoms were panic attacks, a morbid obsession with death and recurring nightmares of being chased into a corner by someone who was trying to kill me.
This lead to exploring my traumatic birth and the lifelong physical after effects of arriving into the world feet first.
Then one day, in a moment of absolute clarity, I realised that I am the survivor of an abortion attempt.
It was a crazy idea, but it made sense of everything in my life: I am a surviving twin.
I am sure of it.
A baby was lost in the abortion but there had been another - and that was me.
Even if special care is taken to make sure that every trace of foetal tissue is removed from the womb, sometimes there will be a survivor, like me.
It has made all the difference to my life to know that! I sought out other survivors of abortion and found a few, but mostly they were single twins who had survived miscarriage, bleeding episodes or premature delivery.
I was astonished to learn that one in ten people is a surviving twin.
I discovered the so-called "vanishing twin" phenomenon, where a twin or multiple pregnancy reduces to one baby at birth.
I gradually discovered how to work though my intense feelings of grief.
As a result, my panic attacks and fear of death are no longer a feature of my life.
I am healed.
This was the beginning of my own project, now known as "Womb Twin.
" It is a project to carry out research into the physical and psychological effects of being a womb twin survivor (ie.
the sole survivor of a twin or multiple pregnancy.
) Of the thousands of womb twin survivors who have contacted me through my womb twin survivors web site, there are some who are also abortion survivors like me.
My research results do strongly suggest that there is some kind of psychological aftermath for the sole survivor when their co-twin twin dies during pregnancy or around birth.
I have learned how to help womb twin survivors to achieve healing as I have done, particularly abortion survivors.
