Sports are an important part of our society and play an essential role in ensuring the health of young people. The possibility of concussion, however, is a significant concern that requires greater attention by all involved in youth sports. NPs serve a vital role in this area of clinical practice, especially regarding the education of individuals who supervise youth sporting activities. Only a team effort that integrates appropriate on-field evaluation, timely removal from play, and appropriate and ongoing evaluation can serve to protect children engaging in sports.
