I Hate Blogging! 5 Reasons Why I Decided to Have a Business Blog

I hate blogging.
That's my secret confession.
Well, I guess it's not so secret anymore! I'd much rather be doing something else besides typing up information that people may or may not read.
So why do I do it? There are actually five pretty solid reason why.
1) As a personal outlet.
There are times when I come up with a good idea (Don't laugh...
it does happen) and being the sharing person I am, I need to get it out to those that can use this idea.
There are also times when I have a gripe or don't feel so great about something and I feel much better writing it down.
I really haven't published those yet...
maybe in a different forum.
2) SEO.
For you non-techies: Search Engine Optimization is the ability to allow Google, MSN, and Yahoo to find your pages, and index them appropriately.
This is very important to drive traffic to your website, especially if you have a limited marketing budget.
3) Communicating with your tribe.
It is always important to stay in touch with people you are influencing.
When you come across something really cool, or figure something out that will help others...
share it! I define tribe as people that benefit from your teaching.
They could be your clients or potential clients.
Which leads me into the next reason...
4) Positioning yourself as the expert.
When you give away good, solid content that actually helps people, they are more likely to see you as the expert in that area.
This in turn can lead to more clients.
5) Use the content for your book or eBook.
Repurposing your content is a great way to leverage your time.
Many "experts" in different fields do this.
For example, Marketing Guru Seth Godin has done this for years.
He writes a blog and takes ideas and content from that blog to write his books (of which I own many and highly recommend all).
So, whether you hate blogging or you just haven't started yet, take a serious look at these five reasons.
I'm sure there is at least one in there that speaks to you and provides you a reason and motivation to get going.
And you know what I'm finding, the strange side-effect of all this? The more I write, the more I unlock the knowledge that I've had stored away in my head somewhere that I can use to eventually help others.
Which leads to more blogs! And don't tell anyone, but I may actually be starting to like this...
