How to Make a Shower Invitation with Ribbon

    • 1). Choose a theme or color scheme to use for the shower invitations. Determine the size of paper to use in creating and printing the invitations. Select a ribbon color or design matching the theme. If the paper is plain, choose a ribbon with a design, but if the paper has designs select a solid colored ribbon.

    • 2). Design the shower invitation. Decide the invitation's layout and how to incorporate ribbon. Consider tying a bow at the top, weaving ribbon through the front of the invitation or adding a ribbon stripe at the top or bottom. Making this decision is important before printing the invitations so you leave enough room for the ribbon and center the information correctly. The instructions below are for a ribbon tied at the top, so adjust your method if your ribbon will be on the bottom or side.

    • 3). Mark the hole punch spots with a pencil first to ensure they are centered. Punch two holes at the top of the shower invitation. Experiment with the first bow to find the correct ribbon length. Use the first ribbon as a guide to cut the remaining ribbons.

    • 4). Tie the bow. Pass each ribbon end through one hole so the ribbon ends come up on the front side of the invitation. Cross the left ribbon over the right ribbon and wrap it under the right ribbon and pull up and to the right. Take the piece of ribbon on the left side and form a loop. Using the ribbon on the right side, wrap around the loop. Pull the wrapped ribbon through the hole as you come up behind the loop forming a second loop. Tighten the bow as needed.

    • 5). Clean up the bow. Trim frayed or uneven ribbon edges. Straighten the bow on the invitation and make sure it's not covering any shower information.
