How to Plant Gourds With Cucumbers
- 1). Select a place in your yard with full sun and well-drained soil. Add 2 to 3 inches of compost or manure to the surface of the soil and work it into the soil to a depth of 8 to 10 inches. This improves the quality of the soil and adds nutrients for the gourds and cucumbers.
- 2). Plant the gourd and cucumber seeds one week after the last frost in your region has passed and the soil temperature is at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 3). Build 4 to 6 inch tall mounds 4 to 8 feet apart. Create a 1 inch deep hole in the top of the mound with your fingers. Place two to three gourd seeds and two to three cucumber seeds in the hole. Cover the hole with soil.
- 4). Water the mounds until moist, about two to three minutes. Keep the soil moist around the seeds until the seedlings emerge.
