Port Edward Restaurant

• Port Edward is in Algonquin, within 25 minutes of of McHenry. This eatery provides an international seafood buffet during dinner hours and brunch buffet on Sunday mornings. Buffet items include bouillabaisse, Alaskan halibut, sesame mahi mahi and poached salmon. The buffet also features sushi rolls, such as carved tuna sashimi and California rolls. The dining has a festive atmosphere during the evenings and has the Red Room, a dining room with views of the Fox River. The restaurant is open on Tuesdays through Sundays. Algonquin

• Alogonquin is home to the Port Edward Restaurant and known as the "Gem of the Fox River Valley." This small town provides fishing and canoeing opportunities in the Fox River and Algonquin Lakes, a collection of man-made and natural lakes. Algonquin Lakes also has a network of hiking and bicycling trails. During the winter, Algonquin locals take advantage of snowboarding and skiing activities at the Raging Buffalo Snowboard Ski Park. This recreation area has a terrain park, but no slopes. All the seafood you can purchase is available at the Algonquin Farmers' Market in the town's Old Town District; the farmers' market occurs every Thursday from June through October.
  
  

Two Tails Market/Eatery

• Situated in Woodstock, the Two Tails Market/Eatery is approximately 25 minutes from McHenry. This seafood dining option features all-you-can-eat buffets during the evening on Thursdays through Saturdays. Thursday night has the all-you-can-eat shrimp buffet, while Fridays offers the all-you-can-eat fish fry buffet. On Saturday nights, the restaurant serves an all-you-can-eat crab buffet. Two Tails' dining room has relaxed ambiance. The restaurant also has an on-site market and sells fish by the pound. Two Tails' marketplace and dining room are not open on Sundays.
  
  

Woodstock

• Woodstock is a northwestern suburb in the greater Chicago area, approximately 70 minutes from the Downtown Loop. This town is home to Two Tails Market/Eatery and two historic buildings, the Woodstock Opera House and Old McHenry County Courthouse. Both sites were built in the 19th century and are on the National Register of Historic Places; the Opera House is still in use as a performance space. During the summer, families have access to Woodstock's Water Works, an amusement park with dining options, water rides and grassy knolls for picnics.
